One night, when Duncan had finally come back to Provincetown after some time in Lovecraft with his family, the two went out for a date, but Brian refused to go to a gay bar, as he hated those kind of places, and preferred a dive bar. Brian didn’t go with him, staying in Provincetown, but he noticed that, since the incident, and most of all since Rendell’s widow Nina and their children Tyler, Kinsey and Bode moved to Key House, Duncan started recalling more and more episodes from his childhood and youth, all those memories he had been keeping even from him. The two had been living together for a whole year when Duncan’s older brother, Rendell, was killed by two psychopaths, and Duncan had to travel to San Francisco to attend the funeral, and take care of what remained of his family. To move with him, Duncan had to leave his family house, a manor called Key House, in Lovecraft, Massachusetts, entrusting it to the care of his childhood friend Ellie Whedon, but oddly enough he never shared any memory of the house or even of his family with Brian, as if he didn’t even remember anything about it. The two were pretty much complementary: if Brian was harsh, often rude and unsympathetic, Duncan was sensitive, kind and caring despite the many differences between them, the two went along great, and they eventually moved in together, in Brian’s house. He lived in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and it was there that he started dating an art teacher much younger than him, Duncan Locke. He was, however, also a gay man, albeit he hated all the stereotypical stuff other homosexual people like him apparently loved (or, according to him, were convinced to love by the media view on homosexuality). Let’s take a look at the original.įrom the outside, Brian Rogan was the typical alpha male: a successful salesman, he always dressed in shirt and tie, he loved watching baseball on the tv, and he was quite confrontational with anybody, never letting any offense, no matter how minor, go unpunished. The indelicate Brian, portrayed by Milton Barnes, looks a lot different (and much more attractive) than his comicbook counterpart… let’s hope he has a different fate as well. As the Lockes are gathered for dinner, Duncan and his boyfriend Brian Rogan announce that they’re going to get married, as soon as the latter comes back from his imminent trip to Japan.
